To Be Free in Eretz Yisrael

I remember when we were first looking for a yishuv to move to. We visited a few and I was repulsed/repelled by the sight of the barbed-wire fences surrounding small communities of tiny prefabricated homes. There was no way I could live in such jail-like restricted conditions. One of the things that attracted me to Shiloh was its lack of a fence.

Fence in the criminals, the terrorists, not innocent Jewish citizens.

There was a time when Jews wandered freely on the roads, paths and villages in Judea and Samaria. Now it's rare, and that's one of the great thrills of our annual Od Avihu March from Shiloh to Jerusalem. At least we walk freely on the roads. Yes, there's "security" at the beginning and end, and some of the route is by bus, but we're on our feet on our Holy Land.

Here are some pictures of the most recent one, Succot, September 30, 2007.

thanks
Not the whole distance was hiked. It's close to 30 miles.
Maybe next year you'll join us!

There are more pictures and commentary here:

Beautiful photos! My wife and I are also looking for a place to move to in Israel..maybe Jerusalem? So expensive...the Golan? A bit unsafe...maybe Shiloh would be a better choice! L'Shalom, Yehudi

Wow. I wish I had known about the march last year.

May there be many more marches like this, but initiated only from positive events.
